KNOW MORE ABOUT HOTEL OTAVALO

BLENDING THE OLD WITH THE NEW WITH A FOCUS ON LUXURY HOSPITALITY

The original construction of Hotel Otavalo was built by Mr. Elias Endara in the year 1930, inspired by traditional Spanish colonial architecture.

In the beginning the infrastructure was used to rent apartments, making it one of the first rental establishments existent at that time, which the original Otavaleño families inhabited.

During this time the radio station “La Voz de los Lagos”; (“The Voice of the Lakes”), owned by Mr. Modesto Jarrin Barba, also operated on the second floor.

In approximately 1955 Dr. Marcelo Endara Miño bought the building from his father and started to operate it as Hotel Otavalo, gaining a national and international reputation for providing the services of accommodation, restaurant and cafeteria.

In its more recent history, in 1998 the hotel was sold to Mr. Ivan Endara Bolaños who made necessary adjustments according to the demands of tourists.

Between the years 2015 to 2016 Hotel Otavalo was bought by the hotel company Art Hotels Ecuador which, with its vast experience and by making a strong investment, undertook the challenge of totally reconstructing the hotel, conserving its original architecture.

On November 23, 2018 Hotel Otavalo was re-inaugurated as the only luxury boutique hotel in the north of the country. Its facilities and 29 rooms are a reflection of true luxury hospitality. The property offers all the services expected from a boutique hotel of this category.

True to the brand concept, our motivation is to find and restore emblematic buildings of historical significance, drawing attention to and reactivating the iconic locations and traditional neighborhoods of our country.
