Otavalo is surrounded by important volcanoes such as the Imbabura, Cotacachi, Mojanda and Cusin around which reside indigenous communities very rich in culture and oral tradition.
These communities are known for their agriculture, music and the production of very fine clothing through traditional embroidery.
